Mobile Search Statistics From AT&T: 43% Of Local Mobile Searchers “Come Through The Door”

In some of the most persuasive and conclusive statistics found to date, AT&T Interactive and Nielsen have released statistics  from a March 2011 study that illustrate the unique behavior that mobile searchers exhibit when it comes to their real life shopping patterns. The statistics help underscore the importance of local and mobile marketing online.

1,500 US consumers who owned feature phones, smartphone and tablets were queried in the study about local mobile search behavior. The study found 43 percent of local searchers on mobile devices physically showed up at the business location they found in search results or through online ads targeted to mobile users. Perhaps even more impressively 22 percent of those users actually made a purchase.

The idea that nearly HALF of mobile phone searchers actually we nt into the stores they found in search results illustrates the importance of local and mobile marketing. As we’ve said time and time again, the key to local and mobile search marketing is that the audience you are targeting are READY TO SPEND MONEY NOW. They are customers on the verge of making a purchase, a class of consumer that it is nearly impossible to target with conventional marketing techniques.
